I Love My Job

I think it is rare in life to have a job that you really like. While the work I do is not the most exciting, the atmosphere that i get to work in every day is amazing.

I just rode up in the elevator with Bishop Burton of the Presiding Bishopric. He cracked a joke about me going across the street to obtain some contraband, a fountain drink. You need the context, to get this joke. In the church office building they don't sell any icy cold beverages of the caffeinated variety. So across the street is a neighborhood market were many church employees pay homage to obtain there diet coke.

I is rare that you get the opportunity to meet one of the Lords annointed. I get to work near them everyday, and on rare occasions I get to ride in the elevator with one of them and have him crack jokes with you about my Dr. Pepper addiction.

Awesome!

Baseball Road Trip

For those of you who are going on the baseball road trip over Memorial Day, this is a reminder that we leave two weeks from this Friday.

On the 22nd we are going to try to leave as early as possible in the afternoon. We said 3:30, but I was thinking if we could leave by 2:30 it would be a lot better, traffic wise. See what you can due to arrange your schedules as such. If you have issues with that let me know.

Also We will be returning 25th/26th depending on when we arrive in town. It is about a ten hour trip from Oakland, so you do the math. Equals late. I think of it as 6 DVD's I will be watching as Ben Drives. This time Aaron has to drive at least once, Seriously last trip 4000 miles I don't think that he drove one time. Chris drove the entire time from the back seat so he filled his quota.

Also it would be better for this trip if we did not start it off with a all night Rock Band Party, as has been the new found tradition.

I will be bringing my glove. Feel free to mock me, but we will see who has that last laugh.

Good times commence in T minus 16 days.

4th of July Tournament

I know you think that it is a little early to be discussing the 4th of July tournament, but it is less than two months away.

I have called Paul and reserved us a spot in the tournament. They have not changed the rules for eligibility of teams, as they said they might, so we don't need to recruit a bunch of guys from Perry to play with us.

They are thinking of adding a new rule about bats. The city is thinking of buying bats that all teams would have to use. They say that this will make it more fair for all teams. That is not for sure going to be put into place, but for right now hold off buying any ASA bats as they may be worthless come tournament time.

As it stands right now we should have 8 guys for the tournament. Me, Ben, Jason, Chris, Richie, Tom, Jeff and Justin. Because of the falling out with Jonny and the Boys from Brigham, we will be in need of a few more players. We have a few guys that are playing in Layton that we could ask to come play, but I would be open to suggestions. If would could add a few more guys from perry it might do us well in the PR department, while not needed, could score us some points.

The team fee will be $120. So that works out to be about $11 a piece if we have 11 guys. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Off to the Farm - Baby Animal Days

Hello,

Our family has made it an annual tradition to attend the Baby Animal Days at the Heritage West Center in Logan. It is a festival were the kids get to hold and pet all the new baby farm animals. This year the festival is being held April 9,10,and 11. We were going to attend this weekend but the forecast is calling for ran and cold.

Alternatively the Farm has added two additional Saturdays to see the baby animals. We are planning to attend, to go to the second Saurday, April 25th.

Our kids have seriously loved going to see the animals each year. I think it will be nice to go after the festival, as the crowed should be quite a bit smaller.

We just wanted to give an invite to anyone that would like to attend. We will probably go up in the morning, it opens at 10 AM, then stick around for lunch. There are a few parks near by if we wanted to brown bag it and give the kids a chance to get the wiggles out on the play ground

Again we are going to Baby Animal Days, April 25th for those that want to attend.

The season is upon us.

It is that time of year again. The season that we love and our wives hate. Softball is upon us. We need to register our team by March 31 if we are going to play in Layton.

Jason is talking to Kevin to see if he would like to generously sponsor us again. If not It will be about $30 a person. It has also been brought up that we might want to get some new jerseys. lighter material numbers on the back.

Right now this is who I count as playing.

Travis
Jason
Ben
Chris
Richie, schedule permitting
Cousin Jeff,

We have on additional item, of business, and that is if we are going to ask John and his friends to play. There was a lot of drama at the end of last season. Put in your vote as to what you would like. A number of us have been approached by people that we know, so there will not be a problem fielding team.

My suggestion is that we ask John and The Fromer to play. And then field the rest of our team ourselves. Letting them know that we play in this league to get together, we have one championships, and titles and we enjoy winning. But we would rather rather lose every game then have to here people cray about stuff, even when we win.

First let me know if you are in for sure!
Second give me your thoughts on new jerseys!
Third let me know what you think about the John and friends situation.

Also would like to get some practice time in this spring. I think if we went Friday nights or early Saturday mornings, we could probably get a by in from the wives.

Thanks

Eric is getting the Priesthood on Sunday.

I wanted to let everyone know that Eric is getting the priesthood this Sunday. The ordination will take place at the church around the corner from my parents, at 5:00 P.M.

Eric wanted me to let the posse know that you are all invited to attend and be part of the circle.

We will also be having a pot luck. If you are planning to attend can you bring one side dish. Mom is making a ham or something.

Hope to see you Sunday.

Road Trip! Are you in or are you out!

Bottom ninth two down bases loaded down by three. You going to step up or pansy out.

We are starting to get things in order for our baseball road trip. We need to have solid commitments soon, by week’s end if possible. Right now we have three solids and three maybes, and one no, pansy, who will remain nameless, TOM! Richard appears to be stuck in some black hole vortex were, no one ever goes in and no one ever comes out.

If we have six or seven people, that changes the number of rooms needed and the number of odder eaters for the van. I also want to Jump on tickets ASAP, so that we don’t have issues the Dodgers vs Angels game on Sunday.

Solids: Travis, Ben, Aaron,
Maybes: Chris, Jason, Adam Schenk.
non replies: Richard

Most of you know Adam. If not, he is cool guy and fun to travel with. Ben and I have been on several vacations with him.

I know that we are all about not planning things to the last min, but if we book early we can get some free rooms through Aaron's and my frequent stay programs.

Let me know ASAP. Thanks

Super Bowl Party

Next weekend we may have a chance to witness history as Ben goes an entire Super Bowl with out flatulenting. I would say the over /under is about 6 min.

But if you want in on this action you will have to attend our 2nd annual Super Bowl party. It will be pot luck. We are going to provide the main course, pulled pork sandwiches. If you don't want pulled pork, I will have the grill fired up so bring what you want.

We will also have the fryer up and running, for any one that enjoys getting fat. Shannon I will be making the fried pickles.

IT is BYOB Bring your own Beverage.
Party starts at 3:30
Game starts 4:00.

Hope to see you all on Sunday.

Road Trip

So I have been researching were our trip should be for this summer. I have come up with a few options. But in the end, because of the current economic crisis, this trip seems to be the best option.

Trip:
Leave SLC Friday May 22 5:00 P.M.
San Diego Petco Park May 23,
Dodger Stadium May 24th,
Oakland Colosseum May 25th, return to SLC after the Game.

This Trip requires no days off of work,
Cost are estimated below. Trip cost for gas and lodging are if four people come, if we have more it could be less.

Gas $50 a person (Ben has graciously, offered to drive his van)
Hotels $50 a person ( could be less if we stayed with Chelsea's mom one night.)
Tickets: $120
Food: $100.00 (Not much time for nice dinners with a game every night.
Misc. $30.
Total: $350 a person.

We could extend it one extra day if we wanted to spend some extra time anywhere along the way. The Giants are in town that weekend as well. If we do that my suggestion would be to leave Thursday night. I would like to figure out this soon as we can, the LA game is against the Angels and tickets will sell out pretty fast. So lets come to a consensus soon.
